Practice for September 11

I thought I would post our practice schedule for September 11. We need all the help we can get and we will be emphasizing specific things at each station. Try to be on time by 5:30 so we can utilize all the time we have on the field! So, here goes:

PRACTICE FOR SEPTEMBER 11

Base running- 5 minutes

STATION: HITTING
Emphasize:
-turning hips
-elbow out
-getting measured from the ball
-not standing ahead of the t, but getting feet behind the t
-not lunging
-not stepping forward with weight on front foot, but keeping on the back foot
STATION: INFIELD POSITIONS AND THROWING TO FIRST
-work on getting baseball position- feet slightly more than shoulder width
-hands open and close to knees
-knees bent
-work on charging the ball on slow grounders, grabbing the ball with bare hand
-work on making GOOD and CATCHABLE throws to first base.
-work on 1st baseman keeping his foot on the bag and extending out to catch the ball

STATION: POP FLIES
-keeping glove extended from body
-using feet to get in position
-not being afraid of the ball
-not swatting at the ball with the glove


STATION: GROUNDERS/CATCH AND THROW
-work on staying down and getting in front of the ball
-work on avoiding the “OLE” position
-letting the ball hit the chest and knocking the ball down
-working on coming up and making a good and catchable throw
-working on glove and feet positioning
-WORK on getting the arm in an L position when throwing
-Stepping towards the target when throwing


STATION FOR THE NEW KIDS: INSTEAD OF POP FLIES JUST WORKING ON GETTING THE GLOVE IN THE RIGHT POSITION
- I thought we would put this station in for the new kids just to get them adjusted to the workout and to spend more time with them on how to hold the glove
